About This Project
Domus Apartments is a residential community in Philadelphia's University City neighborhood with shared spaces designed for residents to work, gather, and relax.
As part of a renovation designed by Bernardon Architects, GP Furniture Makers was brought in to help turn the design into a complete, buildable millwork and furniture package. Our team assisted during the final design stage and developed shop drawings for the individual components, working through how each piece would be manufactured, coordinated, and installed within the finished space.
The scope extended well beyond a furniture order. Our furniture and millwork teams worked together to produce cabinetry, steel and glass divider walls, quartz countertops, wood slat walls, individual workstations, tables, and a custom-fit banquette. Bringing those capabilities together allowed us to handle the project as one coordinated package rather than a collection of separate pieces.

A Complete Millwork Package
Projects like Domus require individual pieces to work together as part of a larger architectural space. Cabinetry needs to align with countertops and wall treatments. Built-in seating needs to fit the room precisely. Furniture needs to complement the surrounding materials while standing up to the demands of a shared residential environment.
Our team planned the different components together from the shop drawing stage through fabrication and installation. By combining the capabilities of our furniture facility and custom millwork shop, we were able to produce both the architectural millwork and freestanding furniture required for the space while maintaining consistency across the entire project with in-house finishing.
The finished package brings together a variety of materials and fabrication techniques within one cohesive interior.
