Historic Governor's Mansion Restoration
After a devastating fire severely damaged part of the mansion's historic interiors, our work focused on recreating the architectural millwork that gave the property its character. Existing details were documented and replicated prior to removal, from intricate moulding profiles and fluted columns to arched openings, paneled surrounds and custom doors.

Interior Completely Lost
The fire left extensive damage throughout the first floor of the building, including the original wood architectural elements. The restoration called for reproducing the existing destroyed millwork as it would have been prior to the fire.
Using the Original Millwork as a Blueprint
Where portions of the original millwork remained, they provided the reference for the restoration. Existing profiles, dimensions, curves and construction details could be studied so replacement components would match the historic architecture rather than newly interpreted.
Rebuilding Details That Couldn't Be Bought Off the Shelf
The building's profiles required custom fabrication and profiles. Reference pieces and field dimensions were translated into new mouldings, curved components, fluted elements and assemblies created specifically for the project.
Reconstruction on Site
The new work had to integrate with both the surviving architecture and the reconstructed interior. Large openings, curved surrounds, pilasters and layered mouldings were assembled on site to restore the scale and rhythm of the original rooms.
Restoring the Home's Original Presence
Historic Character, Recreated in Detail
Paneled openings, fluted pilasters, layered casings, crown mouldings and custom doors were recreated as part of a unified architectural system. The goal was for the completed millwork to match the previous existing site conditons prior to the fire.
A Return to the Mansion’s Original Character
The completed restoration brought the mansion's formal rooms back to life while preserving the architectural language that made them distinctive in the first place.
