We created a custom bar and bar back that serves as a defining feature of this Center City Philadelphia cocktail bar. Each piece was carefully fabricated to bring the design vision to life while meeting the precise functional and spatial requirements of the restaurant.
About This Project
Known Associates is a Philadelphia cocktail bar and restaurant designed to bring elevated drinks, thoughtful food, and a richly detailed atmosphere together in one space.
Working with the interior design team PS & Daughters, we fabricated the custom bar and bar back millwork that serves as a central feature of the restaurant.
The project required translating a layered, detail-driven design into precisely built components that were both functional and visually cohesive. The footprint of the restaurant is small which created challenges for precise use of space.
Once fabrication was complete, MHGNY Woodwork handled the on-site installation of the bar, back bar, and countertop.
The result reflects the strength of the collaboration between design, 3d modeling, fabrication, and installation between a single millwork shop and designer.

From Design to Fabrication
Before fabrication began, our team developed detailed 3d models and shop drawings to translate the design by PS & Daughters into a buildable, precisely measured millwork package.
The drawings accounted for the bar’s wraparound footprint, rounded end, stone surfaces, antique mirror doors, storage, equipment placement, brass detailing, and integrated foot rail.
This planning stage allowed every component to be carefully coordinated in 3d modeling before materials entered production. It also gave the fabrication and installation teams a clear roadmap, helping ensure that each piece would fit together properly once it arrived on site.

Installation
Once fabrication was complete, the custom millwork was delivered to the sitefor installation by MHGNY Woodwork. The team carefully positioned, assembled, and secured each component, bringing the bar, bar back, rounded end, and integrated details together within the finished space.
With a project this detailed, installation required close attention to fit, alignment, and coordination with the surrounding finishes and equipment. The result is a seamless transition from the original design and shop drawings to the completed bar at Known Associates.
