Did You Know? We Can Match Any Molding

Moldings don’t have to be limited to the stock profiles you find in a catalog. When an existing molding is no longer available, or a project calls for something completely custom, the profile can be recreated to match.

At our sister company, Compass Hardwoods, we grind our own molding knives in-house. That allows us to reproduce almost any molding profile from an existing sample and create new custom profiles based on an architect or designer’s specifications.

How We Match an Existing Molding Profile

The process starts with the molding itself. Using a piece of the original trim as a reference, we create a laser-cut template that precisely captures its shape. That template is then used to grind the custom molder knives, which cut the new lumber to match the original profile.

When Custom Molding Makes Sense

We most often create custom molding for projects where homeowners, contractors, or designers need to:

• Match original trim in an older or historic home
• Reproduce custom molding used in a newer home
• Replace damaged or missing millwork that is no longer available
• Create a completely new profile for an architectural or interior design
• Produce molding in a specific wood species that isn’t available as a stock product

We can run custom profiles in virtually any wood species and in quantities ranging from a small replacement order to molding for an entire project.

Your Profile Is Saved for Future Orders

Once we grind a set of knives for a custom profile, we save and catalog them. That means if you need more of the same molding months or years later, the profile is already on file and ready to run again.
