Our client wanted custom racking to fit a unique space. The roughed-in cellar included a tasting room, a bar, built-in wall storage, millwork items, and a separate storage area for traditional racking.
Rather than treating each area as a separate build, we approached the whole space as one project. The same wood tones and detailing carry from the cellar's racking and shelving into the tasting room's dining table and ceiling paneling, and through to the bar's cabinetry and shelving. Floor-to-ceiling metal wall racking, set into white oak jambs, maximizes storage and display without crowding the room, while a marble-topped island adds space for wine cases and everyday use.
Every piece — from the racking to the table to the bar — was built to feel like it belonged together from the start.
The cellar spans multiple rooms, each fitted with floor-to-ceiling white oak wine racking to maximize display capacity without sacrificing the ability to see and reach every bottle. A marble-topped island anchors the room, with open, X-braced shelving below built to hold wine cases at the ready. Built-in white oak shelving nearby holds bottles horizontally for additional display, all lit by brass sconces and a geometric lantern-style fixture overhead.
In the tasting room next door, we built a long dining table sized to seat the whole party comfortably, set beneath a tounge and groove paneled wood ceiling with exposed beams. A mix of leather and tweed dining chairs keeps the room feeling collected rather than matched. The adjoining bar continues the same oak tones in its cabinetry and shelving, finished with a marble countertop and backsplash and a mirrored back bar that makes the small footprint feel larger.
