The Boat Profile

The boat shape curves outward through the center and tapers toward each end. That convex profile opens up sightlines so people seated along the sides can see one another and the head of the room without leaning forward. We tune the degree of curve to your seating count and room proportions, so the shape works for the way your team meets.

Sizes & Configurations

Boat-shaped tables are built to any length your room requires. Tables over 10–12 ft are engineered as sectioned tops for freight and on-site assembly; the joint is mostly invisible. The taper at the ends is set in proportion to the overall length so the shape reads cleanly at any size. You specify what the room needs and we build to fit it.

Solid domestic hardwood is our most-specified material for boardroom tables. We also build in veneer for bookmatched grain and complex patterns, quartz for a stone aesthetic, and reclaimed wood for character and sustainability. Bases & Legs

Steel bases, solid wood trestle legs, laminate bases, and custom-fabricated pedestals are all available. Each base is designed to match the proportions of the curved tabletop and engineered specifically for the table’s span, rather than selected from a standard parts catalog. With in-house metalwork, the wood and steel components are planned together from the beginning.

Solid hardwood is the material we specify most often for high-traffic corporate boardrooms. It can be structurally engineered for large spans and is built to withstand daily commercial use for decades. Wood veneer allows for bookmatched grain, more intricate layouts, and design options that are not always possible with solid wood, while also offering flexibility when budget or lead time matters. Quartz provides the refined look of stone with outstanding durability, and reclaimed wood adds natural character along with a meaningful sustainability story.

All of our wood is sourced from domestic suppliers, primarily in Pennsylvania and the surrounding region. Physical samples are provided before production begins.

White Oak	Tight, consistent open pore grain. Takes stain well but prized for natural color. Great for solid wood table tops.
Walnut	Rich dark tone with natural warm colors. Best as natural color for solid wood and veneer tables.
Hard Maple	Light and clean. Extremely durable. Works well in modern interiors.
Cherry	Warm mid-tone that deepens with age. Traditional but not for those who want consistent color.
Ash	Open grain with strong figure. Very durable and cost-effective solid wood option with a yellow color.
Red Oak	Similar hardness to white oak with a warmer, more traditional grain texture. A durable low cost option for solid wood.
Reclaimed	Barn wood, factory floor, and regionally sourced species. Each piece is unique. Confirm availability at quote stage.
Wood Veneer	Bookmatched grain, exotic species, and complex patterns not achievable in solid wood. Paired with sturdy metal or laminate bases.

Custom Boat-Shaped Conference Tables Process & Logistics

Custom conference tables take time. Here is our six-step process, from first contact to production.

Contact

We are contacted by a prospective client looking to purchase furniture. Through email or phone call we discuss the client's needs and our products.

Proposal

A proposal is generated which outlines the furniture choices, contract review, and general information on our buying and making process. Details such as lead time, finishes, size, and shipping will be explained in the proposal.

Deposit

To initiate an order of furniture a deposit is made along with approving the proposal. This serves to book the job and starts the making process in our shop.

Design

Once the deposit is received our team provides 3D renderings, sketch drawings, and shop drawings for each product. These are to be reviewed carefully and serve to authorize the final specifications on the furniture.

Samples

Since colors can vary on different computer monitors we send out samples for approval. These are actual pieces of wood and material with the color and finish your furniture will have.

Step 06 — Approval

Once drawings and samples have been approved the furniture is ready for production in our Pennsylvania Shop.

A boat-shaped conference table has long sides that curve gently outward, making the table wider through the center and narrower at each end. The shape is named for that tapered, boat-like profile. The main practical benefit is sightlines: because the table is widest in the middle, people seated along the sides can see one another and the head of the room more easily than at a straight rectangular table.

Sightlines and presence. The curved sides open up the line of sight across the table, which is especially useful in larger boardrooms and in video or hybrid meeting rooms where everyone needs to see the screen and stay in the camera frame.
